Alī Ibn-Abī-Tālib said, "The odd-numbered prayer (1) is not an obligation like your prescribed prayers are, but the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, introduced the practice and said, 'Indeed, God is One and loves the odd-numbered prayer. So pray the odd-numbered prayer, people of the Qur'ān.'"
(1): The voluntary night prayer that ends a person's worship for that day, and is performed in an odd number of prayer units (one unit, three units, etc.).
