Sunan at-Tirmithiy كتاب الصلاة باب ما جاء فى الترجيع فى الأذان
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُوسَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْوَاحِدِ الأَحْوَلِ عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَيْرِيزٍ عَنْ أَبِى مَحْذُورَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِىَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَلَّمَهُ الأَذَانَ تِسْعَ عَشْرَةَ كَلِمَةً وَالإِقَامَةَ سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ كَلِمَةً. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ. وَأَبُو مَحْذُورَةَ اسْمُهُ سَمُرَةُ بْنُ مِعْيَرٍ. وَقَدْ ذَهَبَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ إِلَى هَذَا فِى الأَذَانِ. وَقَدْ رُوِىَ عَنْ أَبِى مَحْذُورَةَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُفْرِدُ الإِقَامَةَ.
Abu-Mahthūrah said that the call to prayer the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, taught him was nineteen phrases and the call to the start of prayer (1) was seventeen phrases. (1) The call to the start of prayer (iqāmah) is a shorter and quicker version of the call to prayer (athān) that is said to let people know that the prayer is about to start.
