Sunan at-Tirmithiy كتاب الصلاة باب ما جاء كيف النهوض من السجود

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مُوسَى الأَنْصَارِىُّ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنُ بْنُ عِيسَى حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يُصَلِّى مِنَ اللَّيْلِ إِحْدَى عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً يُوتِرُ مِنْهَا بِوَاحِدَةٍ فَإِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْهَا اضْطَجَعَ عَلَى شِقِّهِ الأَيْمَنِ.
The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, used to pray eleven units of [voluntary] prayer at night, in which he included the odd-numbered prayer (1). When he finished, he would lie down on his right side. Footnotes: (1) The voluntary night prayer that ends a person's worship for that day, and is performed with an odd number of prayer units (one unit, three units, etc.)
