Sunan at-Tirmithiy كتاب الصلاة باب ما جاء أنه يخفى التشهد
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الأَسْوَدِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ مِنَ السُّنَّةِ أَنْ يُخْفِىَ التَّشَهُّدَ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ. وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَيْهِ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ.
It is of the sunnah (the Prophet's tradition)(1) that the tashahhud (2) be recited silently.
(1) Record of the tradition of prophet Muḥammad, peace and blessings of God be upon him, including his sayings, actions, biography, physical and behavioral depiction, and his approval of something said or done by his companions in his presence. (2) An invocation that is recited in the middle and at the end of prayer, while sitting.
