Sunan at-Tirmithiy كتاب الطب باب ما جاء فى الحمية
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفَرْوِىُّ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ غَزِيَّةَ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ لَبِيدٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ إِذَا أَحَبَّ اللَّهُ عَبْدًا حَمَاهُ الدُّنْيَا كَمَا يَظَلُّ أَحَدُكُمْ يَحْمِى سَقِيمَهُ الْمَاءَ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَفِى الْبَابِ عَنْ صُهَيْبٍ وَأُمِّ الْمُنْذِرِ. وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ. وَقَدْ رُوِىَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ لَبِيدٍ عَنِ النَّبِىِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم مُرْسَلاً.
The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said "When God loves a bondsman (1), He protects him from [the temptations of] the world as any one of you keeps a sick person from water (2)."
(1) Masculine pronouns are generally used in Arabic as a means for referring to both men and women when the meaning is left general and is not otherwise specified. (2) When water is harmful.
