Sunan at-Tirmithiy كتاب البيوع باب ما جاء فى كراهية بيع الثمرة حتى يبدو صلاحها
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِىٍّ الْخَلاَّلُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ وَعَفَّانُ وَسُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ الْعِنَبِ حَتَّى يَسْوَدَّ وَعَنْ بَيْعِ الْحَبِّ حَتَّى يَشْتَدَّ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ مَرْفُوعًا إِلاَّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ.
The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, prohibited the selling of grapes until they have darkened(1) and the selling of [cereal] grains until they have hardened (2).
(1) As most infections occur when the fruit is half to almost mature size, the darkening indicates a level of maturity beyond susceptibility to disease. (2) Similar to the above note, grains harden as they reach maturity.
