ḤADĪTH OF THE DAY

When the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon Him, used to stand in prayer, (1) he would say, "I have turned my face toward he who created the heavens and the earth, inclining toward truth, and I am not one of those who associate others with God. Truly, my prayer and my rites to sacrifice, my living and my dying, are for God, the Lord of the worlds. (2) He has no partner. And this I have been commanded, and I am the first [among you] of the Muslims. O God, You are the Sovereign; there is no god but You. You are my Lord and I am your bondsman. (3) I have wronged myself but I have acknowledged my sin, so forgive me all my sins - surely, no one forgives sins but You. Guide me to the most beautiful of character, for no one does so but You; and avert from me the most vile of character, for no one does so but You. I respond to your call and commit to it. All good is in Your hands and evil is not attributed to You. To you I owe my existence, and to you I strive. Blessed and Exalted are You. I seek Your forgiveness and I turn in repentance to You." When he bowed down, he would say, "O God, to You I have bowed; in You I have believed; and to You I have submitted. Humbled before you are my hearing, my sight, my bones and my sinews." When he rose [from bowing], he would say, "O God, our Lord, to You is praise filling up the heaven, filling up the earth, filling up whatever is in between them, and filling up all that You will, beyond that." When he prostrated, he would say, "O God, to You I have prostrated; in You I have believed; and to You I have submitted. My face has prostrated to the One who has created it, fashioned it and brought forth its faculties of hearing and sight - so blessed is God, the best of creators." Thereafter he would say, and this would be one of the last things he would say between the tashahhud (4) and the greeting, "O God, forgive me my sins that have already passed and those that are still to occur, those that I have committed secretly and those that I have committed publicly, my excesses, and what You are more aware of than me. You are the Expediter and You are the Delayer; there is no God but You." Footnotes: (1): i.e. after entering the state of prayer. (2): Mankind, angels and all creation. حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ عَنِ ابْنِ ثَوْبَانَ هُوَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ ثَابِتِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ عَنْ حَسَّانَ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ عَنْ أَبِى كَبْشَةَ السَّلُولِىِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بَلِّغُوا عَنِّى وَلَوْ آيَةً وَحَدِّثُوا عَنْ بَنِى إِسْرَائِيلَ وَلاَ حَرَجَ وَمَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَىَّ مُتَعَمِّدًا فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.
The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said, “Convey from me, even if only one verse, and tell of the Israelites without unease (1). And whoever lies about me intentionally, then let him (2) occupy his place in the Fire.” Footnotes: (1) The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, allowed us to tell the stories of the Israelites to learn lessons from them. حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ أَنْبَأَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِىَّ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِى مَسْعُودٍ الْبَدْرِىِّ أَنَّ رَجُلاً أَتَى النَّبِىَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَسْتَحْمِلُهُ فَقَالَ إِنَّهُ قَدْ أُبْدِعَ بِى. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ائْتِ فُلاَنًا. فَأَتَاهُ فَحَمَلَهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مَنْ دَلَّ عَلَى خَيْرٍ فَلَهُ مِثْلُ أَجْرِ فَاعِلِهِ أَوْ قَالَ عَامِلِهِ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَأَبُو عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِىُّ اسْمُهُ سَعْدُ بْنُ إِيَاسٍ وَأَبُو مَسْعُودٍ الْبَدْرِىُّ اسْمُهُ عُقْبَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو.
A man went to the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, and asked him to provide him with a mount. He said, “My mount has stopped from exhaustion.” The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said, “Go to so and so.” He went to that man who gave him a mount. Then, the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said, “Whoever guides [another] to good, will have the same reward as the person who does it”, or he said, “…practices it.” Click on ḥadīth to read more
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ مَرْوَانَ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْفَزَارِىِّ عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَنَّ النَّبِىَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ لِبِلاَلِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ اعْلَمْ. قَالَ مَا أَعْلَمُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ اعْلَمْ يَا بِلاَلُ. قَالَ مَا أَعْلَمُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ أَنَّهُ مَنْ أَحْيَا سُنَّةً مِنْ سُنَّتِى قَدْ أُمِيتَتْ بَعْدِى فَإِنَّ لَهُ مِنَ الأَجْرِ مِثْلَ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يَنْقُصَ مِنْ أُجُورِهِمْ شَيْئًا وَمَنِ ابْتَدَعَ بِدْعَةَ ضَلاَلَةٍ لاَ يَرْضَاهَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ مِثْلُ آثَامِ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا لاَ يَنْقُصُ ذَلِكَ مِنْ أَوْزَارِ النَّاسِ شَيْئًا. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ. وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ هُوَ مِصِّيصِىٌّ شَامِىٌّ وَكَثِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ هُوَ ابْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ الْمُزَنِىُّ.
The Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said to Bīlal Ibnul-Ḥarith, "Be advised!" He said, "What should I be advised, Messenger of God?" He said, "Be advised, Bīlal!" He said, "What should I be advised, Messenger of God?" He said, "That whoever revives a sunnah (1) of mine that has died after me, will be equally rewarded as whoever acts upon it, without it diminishing anything from their rewards. And whoever introduces an innovation of misguidance that God and His Messenger would not approve of, will equally bare the sins of whoever acts upon it, without it diminishing anything from their sins."
