Ā'ishah, the Mother of the Believers, narrated, "I have never seen anyone bear more resemblance to the Messenger of God, in terms of humility, poise, good character, and in the way she stands and sits, than Fātimah, the daughter of the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him. Whenever, she came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, he would stand up, kiss her and offer her his place to sit in. When the Prophet came to her, she would stand up, kiss him and offer him her place to sit in. When the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, became ill, Fātimah entered and leaned towards him, kissed him, then raised her head and cried. She then leaned towards him again, raised her head and laughed. I said to myself, 'I thought she was the most sensible of women, but she has turned out to be one of the women.' (1) When the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, passed away, I asked her, ‘When you leaned towards the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, you raised your head and cried. Then, you leaned towards him again and raised your head and laughed. What made you laugh?’ She said, ‘Let me be one who reveals a secret: He told me that he would die of this ailement, so I cried. Then, he told me that I would be the first of his family to join him; and that was when I laughed.'"
1- For smiling at such a difficult and grim time.
