MUHAMMAD’S TEACHINGS TO MANKIND
“ ʻAbdullāh Ibn-Masʻūd said, "There were around forty of us with the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him. We were in a domed tent [made of hide], when the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, asked, 'Would it please you to be a quarter of the people of Paradise?' We said, 'Yes.' He asked, 'Would it please you to be a third of the people of Paradise?' We said, 'Yes.' He asked, 'Would it please you to be half of the people of Paradise? Indeed, no one enters Paradise but a Muslim soul; and [when compared] to the polytheists [in number], you are but a white hair on the hide of a black bull, or a black hair on the hide of a red bull.'" A good authentic ḥadīth reported by at-Tirmithī, "The Book of Describing Paradise", in Sunan at-Tirmithī: ḥadīth number 2744, narrated by ʻAbdullāh Ibn-Masʻūd Ibn-Ghāfal al-Huṯẖalī. ”
