ḤADĪTH OF THE DAY

“ The Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said, "Whoever shields his (1) brother's honor (from slander), God will shield his face from the Fire on the Day of Resurrection." Footnotes: 1. Sunan at-Tirmithiy كتاب الزهد باب منه [ من طال عمره وحسن عمله ]

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَفْصٍ عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِىٍّ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَلِىِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِى بَكْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَجُلاً قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَىُّ النَّاسِ خَيْرٌ قَالَ مَنْ طَالَ عُمُرُهُ وَحَسُنَ عَمَلُهُ. قَالَ فَأَىُّ النَّاسِ شَرٌّ قَالَ مَنْ طَالَ عُمُرُهُ وَسَاءَ عَمَلُهُ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.
A man asked, "Messenger of God, who are the best of people?" He replied, "Those who live long and do good deeds." [The man] asked, "Then who are the worst of people?" He, peace and blessings of God be upon him, replied, "Those who live long and do bad deeds." Click on ḥadīth to read more
