MUHAMMAD’S TEACHINGS TO MANKIND

ḤADĪTH OF THE DAY

“ The Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said, "I was favored over the other prophets in six ways: I was endowed with concise speech; I was supported with fear (1); war booty was made permissible for me; the earth was made a place of prostration (2) and a purifier (3) for me; I was sent to the whole of creation, and the line of prophets was sealed with me (4)." Footnotes: (1) Fear was put into the hearts of his enemies before confronting him. (2) Earlier prophets were required to pray in specific places or to prove the purity of the place where they prayed. In Islam, however, any place on earth is considered pure unless proven otherwise and is suitable as a place of worship for Muslims. (3) When water is not available for ablution, clean soil is used instead to purify a Muslim for prayer. This procedure is called tayammum. (4) i.e. he is the final prophet. ”

Sunan at-Tirmithiy كتاب الفتن باب ما جاء فى نزول العذاب إذا لم يغير المنكر

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِى خَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِى حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَبِى بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّكُمْ تَقْرَءُونَ هَذِهِ الآيَةَ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ لاَ يَضُرُّكُمْ مَنْ ضَلَّ إِذَا اهْتَدَيْتُمْ وَإِنِّى سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ إِنَّ النَّاسَ إِذَا رَأَوُا الظَّالِمَ فَلَمْ يَأْخُذُوا عَلَى يَدَيْهِ أَوْشَكَ أَنْ يَعُمَّهُمُ اللَّهُ بِعِقَابٍ مِنْهُ.

Abū-Bakr aṣ-Ṣiddīq said, "People, you recite this verse: 'O you who have believed, upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided' (5 [al-Mā’idah]:105), but I heard the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him say, 'Indeed when people see an unjust person and do not restrain that person, a punishment from God will soon extend to them all.'"(2) Footnotes: (1) To avoid being misunderstood, the verse is further clarified by the hadīth, encouraging a positive attitude in facing injustice.
