“ ‘Ā'ishah, Mother of the Believers (1), said, "The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, entered my room one day and asked, 'Do you have anything [to eat]?' 'No,' I replied. He said, 'Then I shall fast.'" Footnotes: (1) Mother of the Believers: A title of honor used for the wives if the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, signifying their raised status among the believers and their inelegibility for marriage after the Prophet's death. ”
