ḤADĪTH OF THE DAY

“ Whenever the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, was about to sleep, he would put his hand under his head and say, "O God, guard me from your torment on the day You gather your bondsmen (1) -or resurrect your bondsmen (2)." Footnotes: (1) Masculine pronouns are used in Arabic for referring to both men and women when the meaning is left general and is not otherwise specified. (2) One of the narrators of the ḥadīth was unsure whether the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, had said, "gather your bondsmen," or "resurrect your bondsmen," and this doubt was propagated as is along the chain of transmission for the sake of accuracy. ”

Sunan at-Tirmithiy

The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Both the buyer and the seller have the option [to complete the sale or rescind it], as long as they have not yet parted ways nor finalized the sale." When Ibn-'Umar bought something while sitting down, he would stand up in order to confirm his purchase (1). Footnotes: (1) Standing up would signal the end of negotiations and thus render the option to rescind no longer valid. Click on ḥadīth to read more
